I don't know about Jasmine, but find it amusing that Mayor Larson is flouting the city's panhandling ordinance by hitting up the city for money for a police rifle range, at least $100,000 a year to pay someone to do his part time job full time and the city, county and state for 8 million dollars to build a Gateway Center.

Are you against a fire arm training place for law enforcement? I assume you're opposed to a City Administrator. I think it has been quite beneficial for Hoquiam. I don't have an opinion on the Gateway Center. I am amused at the antics on the County Commission.

No and No, however the juxtaposition of the Millennial Mayor, cup in hand, soliciting money far and wide while the city has in place a panhandling ordinance is damn amusing. Question, where has it been good enough for the cops to practice shooting for the past decades? City Administrator? My only experience has been with the arrogant a-hole in Hoquiam. Looking for an unemployed or disenchanted administrator willing to move to Aberdeen reminds me of the situation that brought Aberdeen the last public works director.
Basically, though, my sense is that Aberdeen has more pressing needs than an 8 milling dollar palace (replete with Tesla charging stations) in order to blow smoke up passing wazoos.

Basically, I agree with you but I watch them spending money on statues and parks here in Mexico that are there for centuries and give them the atmosphere that people want to be around. I am not sure Tesla will be around though.

It all comes together to create the attractive atmosphere needed to spark tourism and development but, still, should the Gateway Center materialize first, the visual would be like an implant in a meth mouth.

I think the downtown looks okay. The people on the street laying under blankets sparks a romp on the accelerator to get away from the place.

The present range is near Lake Aberdeen. It's not good enough, it's prone to landslides.

This too, shall pass. Two years ago it was a waterfront park. Before that it was the Morck Hotel, before that it was the Historical Seaport.
...the Historical Seaport? One of the few times Aberdeen had a dream and it became a reality. Remarkable in a community of intellectual inbreeding.
Mayor Larson is faced with a town suffering from 30+ years of stagnation and decay. Nothing that a lot of money couldn't cure. I wish him luck and want to see him succeed but wonder about what seems like a errant start.
To my way of thinking, Aberdeen needs a Sewer Socialist as mayor.
